On September 21, 2026, this talk was given to the Freistatt Community. It tells the story of 22 year old Hubert training and fighting in WWII, through his own words he wrote to his family in 80 different letters. These letters were in a box in an attic since he died in 1945 and were not found until 2020. In addition, it provides historical references from his fellow soldiers, books written about the battlefields where he fought, and personal visits to those combat areas in the spring of 2026. Hubert was the only Freistatt community member who gave his life in battle in either WWI or WWII.
